Introduction to Moving Image

Image
Film - The Perks of Being A Wallflower The lighting within this scene makes Sam's character look more of a  silhouette, since we aren't able to see her clearly. The scene included the characters listening to David Bowie's Heroes - hence why Sam is letting the wind hit her, as the song makes her feel free. I think by the lighting being low key and us only being able to see a silhouette, lets the audience identify with the character and how she feels in the moment. The lighting is natural, produced by the streetlights, car lights and the lights upon the bridge to reflect the time of day. While the scene is quite dark, which normally would connotate something negative - the scene is actually very positive, as it reflects the mood of the characters just living in the moment.  Film - Star Wars The Empire Strikes Back The lighting in this scene hides both of the  characters  identities - but since Darth Vader is an iconic character within film, we are e...

Cinematography Techniques - An analysis of The Shining

Throughout the majority of the clip, director Stanley Kubrick used a ground level angle shot to capture the character Danny on his bike, riding the hallways of the hotel. I think the director chose to use a ground level shot to show the audience Danny's perspective. The effect this then has on the audience is that it makes us feel more involved, getting to see things from a characters view point.  Furthermore, in this screen cap and for a lot of the scene, it's in deep focus - meaning everything in the shot is in focus so we as the audience can pick up every small detail. I think, in this case, the effect it has on the audience is that again it makes us feel more involved, letting us explore the scene and atmosphere in detail at the same time the character involved does. Next, the frame used throughout the scene is a single frame - as Danny is the only character involved. This immediately make us focus on him, while perhaps creating a sense of dread for the audience since he...

Induction Creative Brief - Evaluation

Magazine Cover Evaluation  I personally think my magazine cover went well, and turned out the way I hoped it would. At first I found it quite difficult to find a dominant image for the cover which was both big enough and suitable for the main focus - a student magazine. I soon found an image from the college website which was suitable and fit the template well, meaning I could fit y cover lines around it. I chose to use the image I did as I think it shows the college in a positive light.  I'm happy with how my cover lines turned out, since they fit the theme after I took inspiration from the college website. I chose to take ideas from the website as it appeals to my target audience - students, therefore it will interest them. Furthermore, I chose to add a splash promoting a giveaway relating to The Bridges since things like vouchers appeal to students.  I think if I were to do this task again, I would improve by changing the layout of my front cover and maybe adding...
