Digital Age Documentary Diary

November 18th 2020

In this week, I have just about completed my diagram showing ideas that I could include in my documentary, such as the history of vinyl, peoples opinions on it and the statistics. After competing my diagram, I have began my powerpoint to showcase my idea ready for next week. 

November 23rd 2020

I updated my blogger so everything was easier to find, then watched some short documentaries which are similar to mine. After watching those I analysed them and explained how they can help me in making mine. I then uploaded my diagram to blogger and began my post on research. I noted down my research into why people do and don't collect vinyl, then also spoke about the vinyl revival. I then need to continue my powerpoint presentation to showcase my idea in more depth. 

November 30th 2020

I completed my powerpoint, and created a survey and am still receiving feedback. I completed more research and explained what my documentary would consist of. I need to get more feedback before adding it to my powerpoint which i can then add to my documentary when i come to make it. 

December 2nd 2020

I completed my AC1 tasks for the project (mind map, research, etc.) and uploaded those to blogger. I then began my AC2 tasks, writing out the questions to my interview.

December 7th 2020

I began writing my script for the documentary, while completing some things on blogger. I discussed the statistics I have gotten back from the survey I composed. 

December 9th 2020

Became close to completing my script, began looking at completing my shot list

December 14th 2020

Changed and continued my script so it should be complete this week, need to complete my shot list

December 16th 2020

Continued with my script after changing some parts around, so I should be finished by the end of the day. I should have AC2 complete by the end of the week as I just need to complete the last blog post.  Next I will complete AC4

January 6th 2021

Over the time we have been off for Christmas half term, I have completed AC2 as well as AC4. I am working through AC3 and am bringing together footage which will go in my documentary, and will soon film my short clips. 

January 13th 2021

Today I continued with test footage and recorded some of my script to use as a voiceover in my documentary. I also collected some more footage but still need to collect more. For next lesson I hope to have collected all of my footage. 

January 18th 2021

I spent todays lesson collecting more footage, and also changed a few parts in my script so it would work better. I will continue for the rest of the day with collecting footage so that I can begin editing as soon as possible.

January 20th 2021

I collected the rest of my footage like I hoped to have done, and began editing the introduction to my documentary. For the rest of the lesson I will continue with editing and see how far I get. I think this lesson went well as I finally started my editing so hopefully I can get it complete soon. 

January 25th 2021

I spent the whole day finishing off my documentary and making sure it was to a high enough standard. I think I'm happy with how it turned out but I think there is a lot I can improve on, such as the length of some of my clips, and inserting some more of my own footage rather than from online. 

January 27th 2021

After submitting my documentary, I spent today's lesson making sure everything required was on my blogger. I have a handful of sheets missing so I will continue the rest of the day making sure that everything is there and is up to date.

Film - The Perks of Being A Wallflower The lighting within this scene makes Sam's character look more of a  silhouette, since we aren't able to see her clearly. The scene included the characters listening to David Bowie's Heroes - hence why Sam is letting the wind hit her, as the song makes her feel free. I think by the lighting being low key and us only being able to see a silhouette, lets the audience identify with the character and how she feels in the moment. The lighting is natural, produced by the streetlights, car lights and the lights upon the bridge to reflect the time of day.  I asked people within my age range if they do or don't collect records and why -  People who do -  'I do mainly because my parents have a big collection from the 70s and 80s so they gave most of theirs to me and I got additional ones myself, but also because I love having music on a variety of different formats, and certain songs on vinyl just sound better'. Smile Campaign - project diary

 January 11th 2021 Since the idea for my TV advert changed due to Coronavirus measures, I plan to try and film my new idea this week. As well as this, I'm planning on creating a print advert, which I still need to plan some more of. January 18th 2021 After creating footage for my new TV advert, I've decided I will just create the print advert as it didn't turn out the way I wanted and also wasn't as good as my original idea. I will spend this week making sure I have everything up to date on my blogger and will begin creating my poster.  January 25th 2021 After planning what information would go on my poster, I began to create it. After trying out different software and some not working on my laptop, I began to create my poster in Microsoft Publisher.
