'For the Record' - A Documentary on the Resurgence of Vinyl Records
This documentary focuses on why people collect records, the history of collecting and vinyl in the modern age. Something I will take from this documentary is the concept of why people do and don't collect records, as I think it's good to see it from different peoples point of view - as after asking my friends if they do / don't collect and why, I got a variation of different answers. The documentary has been constructed in a way that it consists mainly of interviews with either record store owners, collectors, etc. This is something I may take into my own documentary, as I think having an interview with someone who is also interested in the topic is more engaging. Furthermore, many close up shots of records being played were used, as well as record covers. This is definitely something I will use as that way I am able to show a variation of different artists which may appeal to a wider audience.
The Tables Are Turning - Vinyl Revival Documentary
Again, this documentary focuses on the joy of collecting vinyl records and why people do it. Something they included was statistics on record sales which I will include in my documentary as I think it's important to show the increase in sales and how people within my age range ( the target audience ) are continuing this trend which hopefully won't ever die out. As well as the first documentary, close ups of records were used to display different artists which I think is good as it lets the person being interviewed showcase their favourite vinyl and perhaps helps promote the artist.
