editing process

Overall I think the editing process of my documentary went okay. Using iMovie I believe is quite straight forward, plus I've used it on a different project before, so I think it went well. In my opinion I think if things were different and we weren't working from home due to Covid, my documentary and the editing would've been better due to using a better program. Nevertheless, I think my documentary meets the criteria and fits the brief well.

The editing process itself -

When editing on iMovie, there aren't many actions to take. This meaning after you imported your video footage you could reorder it, add audio and transitions if needed, and that's all. While this is the case, I think the sound editing on iMovie works well as I was able to easily reorder the different sounds being used, and also fade sounds in and out - which helped when switching from the background music to e.g. Beatles song.

For the editing side, I firstly inserted my screen recorded clips from YouTube and was easily able to crop them down and remove the sound. Afterwards I inserted some of my own clips and images, and was again easily able to crop those down to the correct time frame and add audio when needed. When it came to the voice over specifically, using iMovie I was able to record my script right onto the video footage. Secondly when it came to the music, I was easily able to convert this from YouTube and edit it straight onto my video.
