Foley Project - Project Plan and Research

Describe your project - The purpose of the project is to choose an appropriate clip to then recreate all the sounds used within it. What I hope to achieve is that by Christmas I have edited the clip so that all the sounds used were made / chose by me and also add in some sounds that I think would fit that aren't already in the original video. Furthermore, my project is mainly for entertainment purposes. Who is your target audience, and how do you hope to meet their needs through your sound design? When making my project, I need to consider the audience and their needs. I believe my target audience would be both men and women, perhaps as young as 13 or 14, up to people in their early twenties. While there is no dialogue in my film, I think just through the sounds used the story is easy to follow and is told quite well.  What constraints do you anticipate throughout the project, and how do you hope to overcome these? When working on my project, i don't think time management sho...

'For the Record' - A Documentary on the Resurgence of Vinyl Records This documentary focuses on why people collect records, the history of collecting and vinyl in the modern age. Something I will take from this documentary is the concept of why people do and don't collect records, as I think it's good to see it from different peoples point of view - as after asking my friends if they do / don't collect and why, I got a variation of different answers. The documentary has been constructed in a way that it consists mainly of interviews with either record store owners, collectors, etc. This is something I may take into my own documentary, as I think having an interview with someone who is also interested in the topic is more engaging. Furthermore, many close up shots of records being played were used, as well as record covers. This is definitely something I will use as that way I am able to show a variation of different artists which may appeal to a wider audience.  Th...

Interpret the Brief

Context and Client -  My client for this brief are CMP Media, a creative social media content producer. They are asking for young producers, artists and designers to explore and develop ideas for media products or visual art and design work relating to the theme of 'Culture In the Digital Age' - in this case, I need to produce a documentary.  Audience -  My main target audience are both men and women, from the ages 13 to 19.  Duration -  My finished product should range from 5 to 15 minutes.  Deadline -  January 22nd 2021

Initial Brief Research

Identify the client, their needs and issues My client for this brief is Happy Foundations, a movement of people trying to build a happier society by encouraging positive changes in peoples personal lives, homes, workplaces and communities. Their needs are that I produce a TV and print advert with a creative outcome, making people smile. An issue that may arise could relate to money, since Happy Foundations is a charity.  Their target audience are people within my community, meaning both men and women in their teen years, within education. The purpose of this campaign is to make people smile, in particular, their chosen target audience. As a teenager in 2020 with Coronavirus taking over, education became perhaps more difficult and peoples mental health has become worse. In a survey carried out by youngminds.org.uk, 69% of 2,011 young people described their mental health as poor now that they are back at school, as many said the rapid return into academic pressure after six mon...

Western Showdown Task and Evaluation

Image
As a group, we completed the filming in two days. I think we all worked well together as we all shared ideas on which shots to use, etc. and equally decided on the equipment we would use. When allocating the roles of the two cowboys, we asked each other who would be most comfortable doing it, to which me and Sophie said we wouldn’t mind. I then went away and created a list of camera shots and as a group we decided which shots we would and wouldn’t use.  I think our filming experience went good, but could’ve gone slightly better. We originally chose one location, behind the media building, but didn’t get much footage. Therefore, the next day we found a better location where we knew we wouldn't be disturbed when filming and began again, all while it started heavily raining - in the end we got all the shots we had planned to get so it turned out good.  We made the choices we did, such as using extreme close ups and crotch shots, because we researched into other cowboy themed film...
